Infertility Accreditations and Success Rates

Many factors contribute to the success of a procedure

Our Success Rates

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention offer data on assisted reproductive technology (ART) clinics nationwide, along with guidelines on reading the statistics and evaluating programs. Many factors contribute to the success of an ART procedure, including the training and experience of the ART clinic and laboratory professionals and quality of services they provide, along with patients’ age, health, genetic factors and the cause of their infertility.

Because programs vary and each person’s situation is unique, the numbers only tell part of the story. Some clinics accept greater numbers of patients with difficult infertility problems, which might lower their reported success rates. The CDC encourages people considering ART to contact clinics to discuss their specific medical situations and their potential for success.

Our IVF lab achieved a 43 percent success rate, based on 17 live births out of 40 embryo transfers in women under 35 in 2002 (the data were reported in 2004 for pregnancies conceived through December 2002, since outcomes are not known until October 2003). We have achieved this high success rate because of the quality and number of treatment options available, yet we do not exclude patients because of age.

College of American Pathologists Accreditation

In addition to being one of a handful of certified Class 100 cleanrooms, our in vitro fertilization and andrology laboratory is accredited by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists. Widely considered the leader in laboratory quality assurance, the CAP accreditation is recognized by the federal government as being equal to or more stringent than the government’s own inspection program.

The CAP inspection program is designed to ensure the highest standard of care for the lab’s patients. CAP inspectors examined records and quality control indicators, including staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety programs and records and overall lab management. CAP congratulated our IVF lab for the “excellence of the services being provided.”
